The American technology company - Apple Inc., released a new iPhone app that lets users control the set-top box of their "Apple TV."

The new iPhone app can imitate the functions of the Siri remote control. The application will work with the latest digital media player, which was released for sale in October.

By using the smartphone's touchscreen rather than the physical remote, the iPhone app allows users to maneuver the "Apple TV." The free app of Apple Inc., which is dubbed as "Apple TV Remote" and now available on the App Store, lets individuals control games and search on the entertainment device by making the practical use of Siri voice control. The software keyboard on iPhone also allows users to more easily input passwords.

At a news conference in September 2015, the Cupertino based technology company introduced the fourth-generation "Apple TV" and unleashed the digital media player the following month in stores. The entertainment device features a touch-based remote control as well as motion sensors for gaming and a microphone, according to Bloomberg.

The new Remote app can utilize with every "Apple TV" from the second-generation model onward, and that owner should only miss Siri and some hardware features on those older gadgets, based on the report of Engadget.

While the previous app for the old Apple TV model is still available, it is an entirely separate download. The tech giant seems to be making a clean break with this release, and users will only really want the original remote if they use it to control iTunes on their PC.

However, the Apple TV Remote app was teased in 2015, when Eddy Cue (Apple Inc. SVP) stated that the company got their hopes up to get the app going in the first half of 2016. The company didn't quite make a blast about the news, but the app is available now, The Verge reported.
