The new gaming platform codenamed NX by Nintendo, is a portable console with removable controllers.

A number of anonymous sources have been cited for reporting that the new NX console by Nintendo is a powerful handheld gadget. The same reports also say that it has controller modules that can easily attached or removed from both sides of its screen, according to Eurogamer.

Also the new Nintendo gaming platform can be connected to a bigger screen through a docking station. The base unit, which is the so-called brain of the console, is housed inside the portable device and easily connects to a television.

Furthermore, it was said that the device, Nintendo NX, will use a cartridge as its physical media. Nintendo has been using cartridges on its portable gaming systems for a very long time. It was still unclear, however, how big is the capacity of these cartridges. Some of these cards are available in large capacities. Modern cards used by Xbox One and PlayStation 4 can store up to 50 GB of data. Many of these requires installations on their internal hard drives, Gamespot reported.

Previous rumors noted that the Nintendo NX console would run on Android operating system. However, the recent reports says that the NX will run using a proprietary operating system designed by Nintendo.

The first revelation of the NX gaming platform was on March 2015 where company president Satoru Iwata called it a 'brand new concept' for video game platforms.

Nintendo has not yet announced publicly the official capacity of the NX hardware, but leading reports and rumors are already spreading out.

Multiple reports also suggested that Nintendo will include a living room console and at least one mobile unit on the Nintendo NX.

Nintendo announced the global release date of the NX gaming console and it will be on March 2017. However, the company did not provide any other information. They seem to be holding back a premature reveal in order for the NX's unique element to be protected.
