Samsung Galaxy S8 rumor: flagship to feature VR display?

Samsung Galaxy S8 recent leak from a Chinese website described codename Project Dream. While this does not sound like virtual reality, let's go back to where Google was working on its VR platform. The project was codenamed Google Daydream. The report could hint on Galaxy S8 being VR-ready, MyDrivers reported.

Samsung Galaxy S8 rumor: specs and features

Previously, many speculations said that Galaxy S8 and S8 Edge will feature UHD 5.5 inch screen (3840 x 2160 pixel resolution) with 4K display. If rumor on Samsung working on VR platform is true, then 4K display would be the perfect match for such feature. Another credible source leaked a rumor stating that Galaxy S8 might be working on Google's VR headset as well as Samsung's Gear VR.

Samsung Galaxy S8 will certainly run the latest OS, Android Nougat. And if the 4K display is true, then Samsung should equip Galaxy S8 with bigger battery and probably superfast charging feature as well.

Under the hood, Galaxy S8 might sport Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 and powerful GPU to support the beast specs, GSMArena reported. Galaxy S8 and S8 Edge might have USB Type C port for quick data transfers. The smartphone is expected to have 6GB of RAM and options of 32/64 GB of internal storage.

Samsung always keeps up with trends and the dual camera might be something the company will feature in Galaxy S8. Samsung Motors (SEMCO) is rumored to be developing the dual-camera sensor for Samsung - producing its own imaging technology.

Samsung Galaxy S8 might be unpacked in a Samsung event, probably in early 2017. The conference to unveil Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Edge might happen in February next year during MWC, KnowYourMobile wrote.

A 4K display is a premium feature in a handset as small as 5.5 inch. And it's unlikely for Samsung to sell the handset in a cheap price. However, with the VR growth, we should expect people switching to Samsung Galaxy S8 to bring their dream to reality with much better visual experience.
