Nearly a year and a half after filing a trademark for a tablet device dubbed, the Galaxy Tab J, Samsung finally unveiled what's veiling behind the said name.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab J is an entry-level tablet currently announced only for Taiwan and designed specifically to work alongside a smartphone. The device is not to be confused with the 2013, now prehistoric smartphone device, Samsung Galaxy J, AndroidHeadline reported.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab J sports a mammoth 7-inch PLS screen, coupled with 1280 x 800 pixel resolution, 216ppi, and will be powered by 1.5GHz quad core processor. The device will pack 1.5 GB of RAM and will come with an 8 GB built-in storage.

The specs are nothing to shout about, but that's hardly surprising for an entry-level tablet being part of the Galaxy J lineup.

The affordable Galaxy Tab J performs a slew of basic tasks such as web browsing, instant messaging, social networking, games, media playback and email. Although the 8 GB may seem second-rate for storage but the device comes with a microSD card slot that enables memory expansion, AndroidCommunity reported.

Ideally, taking photos with a tablet feels and even looks awkward, but with the Galaxy Tab J, this is not the case as its size is just right. Moreover, the tablet sports an 8-megapixel rear camera geared with f/1.9 aperture and a 2-megapixel front shooter. The tablet packs a robust 4000mAh battery which is typical for bigger phones and smaller tablets.

Just like other Galaxy Tab models, the Galaxy Tab J features a Kid Mode so that parents can leave behind their worry about children using the phone. But that's not all; it also boasts the S Bike traffic safety mode that switches your phone to silent mode while you're on the move. The feature notifies callers when you're on the road.

The Galaxy Tab J will be up for grabs in white or gold beginning August in Taiwan for an affordable price tag of TWD 5990 (about $185).
