Xiaomi took the wraps off its first Windows 10 notebook, the Mi Notebook Air at an event in Beijing. The Chinese electronics firm is clearly gearing up to compete with the 13.3-inch MacBook Air, upholding the Mi Notebook Air as 13% thinner at just 14.8mm and 11% smaller while managing to offer a similar sized screen.

The Mi Notebook Air is housed in a brushed aluminium body and features a laminated 13.3-inch Full HD display paired with edge-to-edge glass, an impressive 8GB of DDR4 RAM, sixth-generation Intel Core i5 CPU, a mammoth 256 GB SSD, and a cutting-edge Nvidia 940MX video card, Windows Central reported.

The notebook has dimensions of 309.6 x 210.9 14.8 mm and weighs 1.28 kilos i.e. 2.82 lb. According to Xiaomi, the Mi Notebook Air comes with a battery life of 9.5 of whopping hours on a full charge, and what's even more impressive is that it gains a 50% charge is just 30 minutes.

In addition to the aforementioned 13.3-inch model, the Mi Notebook Air will also come in a portable 12.5-inch model.

Both models will boast a 1080p display with slim under-glass bezels while still managing to offer a 1 MP webcam. The notebook will not sport a logo on the outside. Moreover, both the models will reportedly sport a backlit keyboard and feature a USB Type-C charging port along with a basic metallic design in gold or silver.

But that's not even the best part; the flagship model costs just 4,999 yuan (about $750), Engadget reported.

However, don't let the too-good-to-be-true price tag mislead you.

The 12.5-inch model boasts an even slimmer and lighter body at 12.9mm and 1.07kg, respectively, but users will have to bear up with an Intel Core M3 CPU, with no dedicated GPU, mere 4 GB of RAM and just a 128 GB SSD via SATA - for those who prefer Xiaomi doing the upgrade for them later, there's one free PCIe slot available. Also, only one USB 3.0 ports will be available instead of 2; nevertheless, user will still have an HDMI port.

In terms of upside of this model, users get additional two hours of battery life. The 12.5-inch model costs 3,499 yuan (about $520).

As far as availability outside China is concerned, Xiaomi has remained mum and divulged no details so far.
