The world may be busy catching them all in "Pokemon GO". However, if you're one of those people who don't bother hatching eggs but still wants augmented reality experience you can consider one of these AR apps to try.

AR App #1: Yelp Monocle

Yelp Monocle is iPhone's first app that uses augmented reality in 2009. Now available in Android, Monocle is one of the best utility in finding directions. Its handy features allow users to view nearby places such as store or restaurant simply by utilizing the camera. The app shows details on a business including user ratings, cuisine types, or other information you can expect.

Monocle also features a new map, which according to Yelp, will 'move with you'. The Digital Trends noted Monocle as one of the best augmented reality app. Of course, it was before the arrival of "Pokemon GO".

AR App #2: Crayola Color Alive

You've heard about 'Pokemon GO' rants which said that it may not be suitable for children to play. Crayola Color Alive makes coloring session fun. Crayola is an AR app that works with Crayola's coloring book.

Some popular characters include Minions, Iron Man, and Elsa from Frozen. When user has finished coloring a character from Crayola's book, hold the phone with the app loaded to see it emerges out. Users can also snap or take selfie with it. This could be an app that even adults feel the need to buy one for themselves. You can watch the Crayoloa Color Alive review below!

AR App #3: Google Translate

Not many people know that Google Translate can actually be used using a smart device's camera. The AR version of Google Translate is able to recognize 29 languages and you can scan a street sign, too. What's great about this AR app is the 'instant camera magic' that when you hover your smartphone over a text, it will quickly look like it's written in English at your phone's screen. This would be helpful when traveling abroad, translating menus and posters.
