One of the two "Mortal Kombat" creators, Ed Boon took to his Twitter handle (@noobde) to announce a couple of brand new characters added to "Injustice 2."

"Injustice" fans, rejoice! Two new DC characters slated to be added to NetherRealm Studios' upcoming fighting video game will be divulged during a panel session at San Diego Comic Con event today, July 22 at 12:30-1:30 pm.

Boon had previously recommended gaming and comic book fans alike to delve into two DC comic book storylines such as "The Killing Joke" and "Flashpoint" arcs, Yibada reported.

"The Killing Joke" will probably boast two characters from the Batman mythos - The Joker and Barbara Gordon/Batgirl - that were playable characters in the first "Injustice" game. As far as "Flashpoint" is concerned, it could unveil a slew of key characters including Booster Gold, Wonder Woman, Shazam, Cyborg, Reverse-Flash, The Flash et cetera, considering it is an extensive DC comic story arc.

While Boon teased Captain Gold, Blue Beetle, Swamp Thing and Doctor Fate as new characters to be added to "Injustice 2", fans are pitching their own pick for the looming sequel; citing the likes of Doctor Manhattan, Superwoman, Zoom, Grail, Matter-Eater Lad, Lady Shiva, Deadshot, Zoom, Vixen and Black Canary, Nerdist reported.

In other news, NetherRealm Studios will probably introduce a guest fighter in "Injustice 2" as Boon noted that there is certain freshness into it and there are quite a few people who, on spotting a guest character think that it replaced a DC character that they'd have loved to have.

Boon referred to Scorpion's guest appearance in "Injustice," which later became the most downloaded character, as well as the popular Alien and Predator in "Mortal Kombat X" which further enhanced the game.

Some of the playable characters in "Injustice 2" include Gorilla Grodd, Atrocitus, Aquaman, Supergirl, Batman and Superman. In addition, there will be a new armor system that allows gamers to enhance the appearance and skills of their selected character as they must strive to unlock new armor sets and loots.

As far as the plot of "Injustice 2" is concerned, it is slated to follow the first game as Batman attempts to rebuild the world after Superman's One Earth Regime, while simultaneously stopping his loyalist in breaking him out of his Red Sun prison, heedless of the looming threat to earth.

"Injustice 2" is currently not associated with a release date, but it is speculated that the much-awaited game will hit the shelves sometime in March next year.
