No records of campus police interaction; that is how Monica Watts, University of Alabama spokesperson recalls Gavin Eugene Long, the Baton Rouge shooter that took the lives of three policemen and three others wounded on Sunday in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Long, a black American ended up facing his death on his 29^th birthday after being shot by the policemen who responded in the shootout.

University of Alabama records show that Long did not only attend the school but even managed to make it to the dean's list due to his academic excellence. He was enrolled in the university for one semester on spring of 2012, Al.Com reported.

Long served as a US Marine sergeant in Iraq from June 2008 to January 2009. His marine service actually started August 2005 and ended August 2010. During his years of service, there was never a time that he had been involved in any criminal cases.

However, he was reported to be a defendant in two separate civil cases; one of which filed against him in March that was dismissed in June. The case involved his alleged delinquency on city taxes.

Records show that the suspect divorced his wife in 2011 with whom he had no children.

He was seen joining protest rallies against racism in Dallas after two separate incidents of killing on the said place. The first one was the death of Alton Sterling, a black man shot in a convenience store followed by a black U.S. Army Reserve former member killing five officers.

Long owns a "convoswithcosmos", a website featuring health and relationship advice.

The video posted in You Tube on July 10 shows Longs' frustration over the African-American oppression. He also expressed his disappointment over the praises that Americans get upon fighting their oppressors that Africans do not receive The Reuters reported.
