"The Dark Tower" movie, based on the bestselling and popular novel of Stephen King, "Dark Tower," has been confirmed to hit the theatres. "The Dark Tower" movie is being co-financed by Sony and MRC.

"The Dark Tower" movie will adapt the storyline of the first book, "The Gunslinger." The Dark Tower movie casts Akiva Goldsman, Ron Howard, Brian Grazer and Erica Huggins to produce the affair. In another report accompanying the update, King expressed his excitement to see his masterpiece finally make a major step forward its journey to the big screen, Cinema Blend reported.

"The Dark Tower" movie is believed to be connected to all of King's novels. In an interview, King quoted that everything he has done kind of reflects back to "The Dark Tower" books though that was not intentional.

King also added that he is the kind of writer who does not know about anything, does not plot ahead and does not outline. Hence, when people start to see the connections in his writing, people should embrace them.

"The Dark Tower" movie binds all the "Dark Tower" novels. All of the author's worlds are one, but are simply different levels of the "Dark Tower," with dimensions that symbolize the author's imagination or mile-high bibliography, Entertainment reported.

Meanwhile, "The Dark Tower" series is made up of seven novels, which centers around Roland Deschain, a member of an order of gunslingers living in Mid-World, a supernatural world. Deschain is in search of a mystical structure called "The Dark Tower," the nexus of all the various worlds. He must find and defend the tower against a mysterious figure attempting to destroy it in "The Dark Tower" movie.

"The Dark Tower" movie's director is yet to be decided while Tom Rothman, the new Sony Pictures Entertainment chairman, said that the studio is thrilled with the "Dark Tower" movie script, which was co-written by Goldsman and Jeff Pinkner. Watch the "The Dark Tower" trailer below.
