Sony has not released a smartphone in a long time, but now, rumors reveals that at least one handset will be unveiled at the upcoming IFA 2016.

Although  Sony has not released any smartphones for quite a long time, the company is not backing down from the smartphone market race. In the upcoming IFA 2016 trade show which will be held in Germany, the company is going to unveil at least one smartphone. It is also rumored that Sony could reveal new range of mobile devices and that it would be a member of the Xperia Z series. The tech convention will take place in early September.

The new handsets is reported to be sporting a 5.1 inch full HD display screen (1080p). It will also have a powerful processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 820. The phone is said to have 3GB RAM and 32GB internal memory storage. It should be powered by Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. The camera on this phone is 21 megapixel on the rear and 12 megapixel up front, Ubergizmo reported.

It is believed that Sony will release two devices with model numbers F8331 and F8332 and they are rumored to be the continuation of the Xperia Z series. Sony did not confirm nor deny this speculation.

The devices are expected to be announced together and will be on the same family of devices. The similarity in the model numbers says it so. It is said that the announcement would be more like the earlier announcement of the Xperia X range at the MWC earlier this year. There were no further information on the device but the GFXBench listing, which surfaced just recently, revealed the specs of the upcoming Sony handsets, Android Headlines reported.

The latest announcement was the variants of the Sony Xperia X series namely, Xperia X, Speria X Performance, Xperia XA, and the xperia XA Ultra.
