Ann Arbor Art Fair is a four-day art fairs expansive across 30 city blocks in Ann Arbor downtown. This 2016, as part of its 57 anniversary celebration, it opens on July 21 which is a Thursday a breakaway from its traditional Wednesday opening. The fair close on Sunday July 24.

Ann Arbor Art Fair Thursday-to-Sunday schedule happens for the first time in its history. Spokesperson Daniel Cherrin said that over the past years, visitors and patrons have been pondering why Ann Arbor does not go over the weekend, The Detroit News wrote.  Thus, they pushed it over the weekend so that more people could enjoy.

About 500,000 fairgoers are expected to grace the fair to scan and ponder on the works created by more than 1,000 artists, partial data from CBS Detroit. Majority of the artist participating in this fair hail from Michigan, which Cherrin believes as a big draw.

Photographer Steven Huyser-Honig has exhibited his works exclusively featuring Michigan landscapes, for the fair in the past six years. He describes the volume of out-of-state interest he gets at the event as "gratifying."

Kaiser Suidan, a Ferndale-based sculptor and gallery owner, said he has clients who originate from as far as Florida. He added that they are not only tapping into local clients, instead, they are mounting a national client base, The Detroit News added.

Two first-time exhibitors are hopeful that the fair will be an advantage to launch a new business endeavor. Alyssa Klash and Alan Ledford, both Hazel Park residents, are the proprietors of Artsy Fart, a planned studio, art shop and youth art education facility that just received a Motor City Match grant fund to put up a multipurpose storefront this 2016. Klash and Ledford hope to bring other local artists' works to the Ann Arbor Art Fair in years to come.

Ann Arbor art fair also offers many simpler preferences for those more casual observers in the art world.

Ann Arbor Art Fair will open on July 21 to 23 at 10 AM to 9 PM and at noon to 6 PM on July 24 at Downtown Ann Arbor. Admission is free. Watch the video below.
