It is just not technology, law, medicine or engineering, here is a list of some interesting degree programs that give a different world view.

Five programs targeting different taste buds:

The Cornell School of Hotel Administration offers bachelors and masters degree programs in hospitality administration covering all the possible topics relating to the industry including hotels, restaurants, casinos, cruise lines, finance, real estate, spas, theme parks, travel and tourism.

Apart from classroom activities, students will get an opportunity to learn and work in on-campus hotels and other hotels around the world, which is considered to be equivalent to a five-star experience.

"Classes in the Hotel School mimic business school classes but they all have hospitality flair," says Ben Chung, a sophomore in the school. "For instance, we take a development course, but it's Hospitality Development so we learn how hotels, casinos, resorts, and like are developed."

"The best part of being in the Hotel School is by far the community," Ben says. "Each grade consists of roughly 200 people, which is smaller than most high schools." In fact, students jokingly called the Hotel School building "Statler High" instead of Statler Hall because of the small feel. "The community is tight knit, which is hard to come across in a school as big as Cornell."

The University of Massachusetts' Amherst Stockbridge School of Agriculture is for students who have a passion for environment, farming and sustainability. The school offers a two-year program and a four-year program that includes a variety of majors, such as forest management, sustainable food and farming, landscape contracting, and plant soil sciences. The core curriculum consists of a variety of biological sciences, ecology, math, chemistry, and lab-based courses.

Students will also simultaneously gain hands-on, practical experience on campus farm and greenhouse.

Graduated students who have successfully completed Brown University's Program in Liberal Medical Education will be automatically given admission into Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, exempting them from sitting through MCATs. Students, who wish to apply to varied medical schools, are advised not to enrol for PLME program as after graduation students are directly transferred to Warren.

It is an eight-year program that involves four years of undergrad education and four years of professional studies. This program is open to only about 50 incoming freshman every year.

During their stint at the medical school, students are allowed to earn either a MD degree or an advanced degree in their area of interest (e.g., MPH, MD/PhD) or other professional development such as a Scholarly Concentration in Advocacy and Activism or Disaster Medicine and Response, and Medical Technology and Innovation.

Additional benefit of studying at Brown is that one might have the possibility of bumping into Emma Watson on campus.

Journalism is another course that attracts huge number of applicants every year at colleges and universities across the country.

The Syracuse University S.I Newhouse School of Public Communication has  different types of degrees in  the communications industry, including advertising, broadcast journalism, graphic design, magazines, print and online journalism, photography, TV, radio, and film.

Human ecology is the study of how people interact and relate to their environments. It majorly focuses on social, cultural, economic, and design issues and covers discoveries related to improving the quality of human life.

The University of Wisconsin School of Human Ecology is one of the very colleges that offers undergraduate programs in interior design, retail, and nonprofit leadership. The school also offers a variety of majors, including community and nonprofit leadership, human development and family studies, interior design, personal finance, retailing and textile and apparel design. Here, students get an opportunity to undertake studies as far afield as China to learn about how business and retail is done in that part.
