Since the first release three years ago, director Guillermo del Toro's "Pacific Rim" is set to get a sequel.

But, fans were thirsty over the details of the science fiction monster film. Most of the curiosity is regarding to the cast that will come back for the sequel.

The official title for the sequel has been made known to the public to be "Pacific Rim: Maelstrom." The Jaegers, which is a special type of mobile weapon against the Kaiju, are set to get bigger and meaner. With that, the Kaiju threat also means to level up, based on the report of Movie News Guide.

In the "Pacific Rim: Maelstrom's" Robot vs Monster battle, the Kaijus (giant monster) will also get more menacing. The upcoming sequel will be getting a shot of a prestigious actor as well. It has been confirmed that "Star Wars" actor John Boyega will be on board for the motion picture, according to Game N Guide.

Rumor has it that the makers of the "Pacific Rim: Maelstrom" are in a negotiation with the American actor Scott Eastwood to be part of the film.

News has surfaced that the cast of the original film will be back to reprise their previous roles. Top of the list includes Charlie Hunnam who portrays Raleigh Becket, Idris Elba who plays Stacker Pentecost, Japanese film actress Rinko Kikuchi as Mako Mori and Hellboy actor Ron Perlman as Hannibal Chau.

While Hunnam is having a great deal to do for now, there are a full two years before the sequel will fire up on theaters - that gives Hunnam an ample amount of time.

In addition to Hunnam, the actor was spotted on Thursday night at the red carpet premiere of Equals in LA., Pop Sugar reported.

However, while the original Pacific Rim wasn't overly beloved back in 2013, there is absolutely no guarantee of "Pacific Rim 2" will become a breakout sequel, according to Forbes.
