Samsung Galaxy S7 review: Galaxy S7 Active specs

Samsung Galaxy S7 Active is a 5.1-inch smartphone that runs Android Marshmallow. Galaxy S7 Active is packed with 12 MP rear camera and 5 MP front camera. The IP68 phone features dust proof and water resistant when brought up to 1.5 meter depth for 30 minutes. All of the three Samsung Galaxy series are IP 68 certified. 

Samsung Galaxy S7 review: Galaxy S7 Active being tested in the water

Samsung Galaxy S7 Active is claimed as remarkable but a recent Consumer Reports showed how the certified smartphone did not survive the water test. Testing Galaxy S7 Active under the water, the smartphone quickly experienced performance decline even after being dried out, Fortune reported.

What Consumer Reports found in Galaxy S7 Active water test

Technicians at Consumer Reports submerged the phone in pressurized water tank, it was then drowned for 30 minutes. It showed green lines as water infiltrated the hardware. And since the first test failed, the technicians work on the second Samsung Galaxy S7 Active water test. It showed the same result: screen not responsive and moisture visible inside the rear camera. After being dried out for a few days, both Galaxy S7 Active phones display were damaged.

Consumer Reports tested three Samsung Galaxy S7 variants

Being the top in smartphones reviews and ratings, Samsung Galaxy S7 series are said to have a durable and remarkable quality. Consumer Reports conducted test for Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 Edge and S7 Active - all of which is claimed as water resistance. After the IP68 phones were submerged in the water, Galaxy S7 Active was the only device to fail the water test. 

Samsung is investigating the issue

Reaching out for comment, the smartphone maker wrote that 'there may be an off-chance that a defective device is not as watertight as it should be'. Currently, Samsung is working to investigate the issue, TechRadar reported.
