GeForce GTX 1060 is said to be more powerful than the previous GTX 980 but much cheaper in price. For the record, GTX 980 was initially released at $500 which is double the announced price of GTX 1060.

This pascal based GP106 is packed with 1,280 CUDA cores, 6 GB of GDDR5 memory and 1.7 GHz clock speeds (easily overclocked to 2 GHz). The system is as powerful as the GTX 980 graphics card but it consumes less power with only 120 watts. The GeForce GTX 1060 is 15 percent faster but more energy efficient, as reported in Nvidia news. GTX 1060 will be great graphics card choice for gamers everywhere in 238 countries.

GeForce GTX 1060 is VR-Ready. Thus, users can expect better VR experience when using HTC Vive or Oculus Rift.

The biggest announcement made by Nvidia rejoiced by gamers, would be the price it sets for GeForce GTX 1060 - with only $249 - a lot cheaper than GTX 980 that costs $549; but with comparable performance.

The GTX 1060 is often compared with AMD Radeon RX 480 which reportedly has high performance albeit the recent power-draw issue. The GTX 1060 rival is also VR-Ready and affordable. GTX 1060 vs RX 480 is a fierce competition and many have seen this release as 'direct response' to Radeon RX 480.

Many GTX 1060 benchmark reviews claim that the graphics card outperforms AMD Radeon RX 480 by 15 percent. However, people might have to wait for official test once the GTX 1060 arrives. And the Forbes believes the score could be higher than what's claimed so far.
