Microsoft announced that the Xbox Play Anywhere is set to launch on September 13.

Microsoft has unveiled its plans for cross-platform gaming during the E3 conference last month. It has named the initiative as the Xbox Play Anywhere, wherein gamers would be able to play supported games across two platforms in a single purchase, The Verge reported.

The game developers now allows gamers to purchase supported games once, and enables it to be played either on the gamer's Xbox One or Windows 10 PCs. Microsoft also revealed its plans for its future native games to go along side its cross-platform initiative.

The new feature would come with the Windows 10 Anniversary Update for the PC gaming platform, meanwhile the summer update for the Xbox One would enable it in the console. Gamers would be able to purchase the game supported by the cross-platform feature once and play it across to gaming platforms.

Gamers would see a supported game on the Xbox Store bearing a "Play Anywhere" logo. There are currently 12 titles supported so far, which includes "Gears of War 4," "Forza Horizon 3," as well as "Halo Wars 2."

The Windows 10 version of the game would be unlocked once the customer buys the console version on the online store. Fans would need not to worry about split trophies or achievements, as Microsoft had enabled a combined game data across the two platforms.

Game saves, as well as achievements would be updated on both platforms, which allows the users to switch between the PC and the Xbox One without losing the game's progress, according to Express.

The Xbox Play Anywhere is set to launch on September 13, while the Windows 10 Anniversary Update would be available on August 2. Meanwhile, Microsoft has yet to announce the release date of its summer update for the Xbox One, but it would likely come around close to the launch date of the cross-platform feature.
