Sony's updated version of its console, PlayStation 4 Neo, also known as PS4.5 or PS4K, is expected to be released soon, but a lot has yet to be revealed about the expected console.

Sony's PS4.5 was expected to be showcased in this year's E3 conference, but the game company has opted to omit the new version of the console from the conference, Trusted Reviews reported.

The expected console would be an upgraded version of Sony's console to keep up with the advancements in technology. It is expected that the PlayStation Neo would showcase a more powerful GPU, along with the native capability to display games in 4K.

Despite Sony's announcement of its slated console, much has yet to be revealed about the updated console. The new console will bear the official title of 'Neo' and analysts predict that it would carry a faster processing power rated to be as high as 2.1 GHz, according to GiantBomb.

Sony has confirmed that the PS4.5 release date is imminent, as it is expected to compete with Microsoft's Xbox One S, as well as Nintendo's NX. Andrew House, president at Sony Interactive, stated that the updated version of the console is meant to complement the standard PS4, as well as it will be sold simultaneously.

The rumors have yet to be confirmed but it may be just a matter of time it will be revealed that the PS4 Neo would feature a much powerful GPU, as it is expected to boast 4K displaying capabilities alongside Ultra HD Blu-ray discs.

The new GPU is expected to be twice as powerful as the PS4's GPU, with a clock speed rated to be at 911MHz from 800MHz. This may have been confirmed by AMD's recent announcement that it will roll out a new selection of chips, which are already in development, and are expected to be ready close to the end of 2016, ArsTechnica reported.

Sony has yet to set a definite release date, but with the recent advancements in technology, which directly benefits the current-generation consoles, and a few more to come, it is expected that the gaming company is aiming for a release close to the end of 2016.
