Sony and Microsoft only had their "PlayStation 4" and "Xbox One" consoles for sale for three years. But now, the tech giants will soon be offering gamers some state of the art new hardware.

At E3 2016 in Los Angeles, Sony made it known that they are working on the new console called "PlayStation Neo," which confirmed rumors that had been the subject in the tech press for weeks. However, during Sony's presentation at the conference, it was swiftly followed up by Microsoft's plans for the "Xbox One Scorpio."

Sony's "PlayStation Neo" and Microsoft's "Xbox Scorpio" consoles will run in two new features - 4K, High Dynamic Range (HDR) gaming and high-end virtual reality experiences, which provides gamers their own a 4K television or a compatible VR technology headset, according to The Week.

But, the latest technology will make no sense if gamers don't own a 4K TV to play games. Game fanatics probably can spot some small differences while playing on a 1080p TV set, but it's not the main reason to buy either console, based on the report of Alphr.

As the standard PS4 will be compatible with the upcoming PlayStation VR headset as well as Sony's "PS4 Neo" - which means instead of purchasing a ticket to VR with the new console, the video gamers will be acquiring an upgraded experience instead.

While the "Xbox Scorpio" will feature virtual reality, but it is not yet confirmed if it comes with a headset nor a partner. It has been said that Oculus is on board.

However, as the games are made particularly for a 4K gaming experience, a gamer will be able to sit closer and have a clearer picture of the game, CNET reported.

And the most important aspect of Sony and Microsoft's new consoles is the way in which the companies intend to handle their respective audiences. The prestigious tech giants have already claimed that players of the older version of PlayStation and Xbox will not be left behind, according to Games Industry
