Barry Allen, portrayed by Grant Gustin, may end up breaking Iris West's (Candice Patton) heart in the upcoming season of "The Flash."

The season 2 finale of "The Flash" left audience with an entire timeline that was erased by the red speedster when he chose to go back in time to save his mother. It is still unknown to all as to what will happen in the coming season 3 of the popular CW show. Team Flash saw Barry disappear in front of their eyes. There may even be a possibility that he will not become the scarlet speedster and will live as an ordinary teenager with his parents. Iris' brave and highly-anticipated confession to Barry that she loves him may not even happen in the new timeline.

In the a Twitter post, Gustin previously assured the fans that things would turn out all right for the couple.

Although the scarlet speedster told Iris he needed time to mourn the loss of his father, the promise of a mutual love was heartfelt in their actions. She only needs to patiently wait for him to come around. Iris told Barry she would wait for him no matter what.

As far as rumors and spoilers go, there is the assumption that Barry will fall in love with another woman in season 3. According to GameNGuide, his new love interest could be Jesse Quick (Violett Beane), who is the daughter of Dr. Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) and goes by the name of Jesse Wells in Earth-2, Ecumenical News reported.

Meanwhile, Danielle Panabaker, who plays Caitlin Snow in the CW series, recently stated in an interview that the cast also does not know what will happen to Barry and the others in their upcoming season. She also shared that her character's backstory would hopefully be shown, especially her bond with her mother.

"The Flash" season 3 will air this October on the CW.
