In order pass the International English Language Testing System, the taker must follow the rules completely. It is also important to know the mechanics by taking online mock exams.

The IELTS is the world's most popular proficiency test in English language. In order to pass these exams, the examinee must know its rules and should also play by them. Knowing the rules of the exam is imperative and being too academic for Academic IELTS will make you fail, Elisabeth Sandler of Times Higher Education reported.

In addition to following the rules, obtaining the four parts of the examination content is very helpful. These parts include reading, listening, speaking, and writing.  The main topics areas of the questions are on the following: arts, policy, and education.

There are also tips and practices given on by the author on the aforementioned website. One of the advices given is to include the English language in one's everyday life. Another tip the author gave was by practicing in spelling, grammar, and vocabulary.

IELTS mock exams are also spreading online. By taking these exams, the examinee will be familiar with the rules and mechanics of the test. However, focusing only on IELTS books and IELTS online mock exams is not the best way to pass the exam.

The rules of Academic IELTS examination includes the following  IELTS Official Test Center reported:

1.     The examinee must provide a proof of identity using a National Identification card or a valid passport. Your valid ID must have your passport number, signature, birth date, and photo.

2.     The only allowed things in your desk is your proof of identity (National ID or passport), pen and/or pencil and eraser which will be provided by the Exam Centre.

All pagers, cellphones, and other electronic devices must be switched off and placed together with the examinee's personal belongings outside the testing room. It is better if the devices are left at home or in the car. Any candidate who retains personal belongings or does not switch off their electronic devices, will immediately be disqualified.
