While rumor mills continue to swirl speculations hinting a slew of cheaper tablets are slated to hit the shelves soon, one among these tablets, the Asus ZenPad Z8 is all set to appear at Verizon very soon.

Asus, without question has been among the earliest Android tablet enthusiast. The company produced the exceptional Transformer series and two generations of the exquisite Nexus tablets. Asus also ventured into the FonePad and MemoPad range, however a few of these products failed to impress the consumers.

Apparently, this hasn't stopped the Taiwanese tech giant. Asus extended its 'Zen' branding to tablets. In a bid to repeat the huge success of the ZenFone series, Asus launched the ZenPad earlier this month, NDTV Gadgets reported.

On May 28, the usually reliable leaker, Evan Blass (evleaks) took to his Twitter handle to divulge a new Asus tablet, Zenpad Z8. Blass noted that the aforementioned tablet will boast an 8-inch display.

He firmly established that the device will be available to customers in the U.S. via Verizon. What's worth noting is that when a device is specifically created for a carrier, more often than not, they are exclusive offers and this seems to be the case as far as the Asus ZenPad Z8 is concerned.

Other details leaked by Blass state that the ZenPad Z8 will reportedly pack a mid-range chipset, apparently the Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 version; paired with a hexa-core CPU. In terms of display, the new ZenPad will boast a 1536p x 2048p resolution, same as the Apple's iPad mini 4. The device fails to impress in terms of RAM, which is restricted to mere 2 GB - the storage on board, however is 16 GB, Ecumenical News reported.

The ZenPad Z8 will feature a microSD slot that would enable further expansion of external storage. If leaked reports proved true, the Asus ZenPad Z8 will have LTE encompassed, and judging by the specs, it could comfortably be a mid-range model that consumers can buy without burning a hole in their pocket. The Asus ZenPad Z8 will reportedly boast an 8 MP rear camera and a 1.8 MP front camera.

Asus recently revived its ZenFone 3 range of smartphones, and it is speculated that Asus will announce its ZenPad Z8 soon after that.
