Aurora University has appointed Frank M. Buscher as the new vice president for academic affairs. Buscher was previously a vice president of academics and student life at Christian Brothers University in Memphis for seven years.

According to Aurora University, Buscher will be working alongisde university president Rebecca Sherrick. Together, they will continue to expand the academic and career programs catered to the university's students. Buscher said in a statement that he is looking forward to becoming a member of the increasingly growing unversity's scholar community, Patch notes.

Aurora University president Sherrick adds that she is impressed by Buscher's track records, especially for what he has done at Christian Brothers University. She adds that Buscher will continue to inspire student learning through academic programs in cooperation with the university administration and teaching staff.

"His unique set of skills and experience will be of great value to the university as we continue to fulfill our vision of being an inclusive community dedicated to the transformative power of learning," Sherrick explained.

Chicago Tribune reports that Buscher has accomplished a doctorate in Marquette University. He is a doctor of modern European history with a master's degree in history as well. Furthermore, Buscher is a historian, research scholar and a teacher.

Additionally, Buscher's transfer is Aurora University's solution to the growing enrollment and population in the campus. The institution will be expanding their facilities as well. Soon, Aurora University will have an athletic facility in Montgomery installed with locker rooms, a soccer stadium, a large field, baseball stadium, training facilities and a softball stadium.

In other news, Aurora University's John C. Dunham STEM Partnership School has been awarded with a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum certification by the US Green Building Council. The university is the only one in the US to receive the prestigious LEED Platinum certificate, according to Archinect.com.
