With a pair of transfer students eligible this year and another two freshmen incoming, Treon Harris was going to be in for a complicated quarterback competition at Florida.

However, he seems to be entertaining a position change to clear up the Gators' logjam. Citing unnamed sources, Gridiron Now's Mike Huguenin reported Harris is working out at wide receiver ahead of next season.

Facing a suspension for performance-enhancing drugs carrying over into this season, last season's starter, Will Grier, announced he would transfer from Florida. Since Grier's suspension, the Florida offense struggled with Harris. Only twice in Florida's last eight games did Harris have more than 200 passing yards and a completion percentage higher than 50 percent.

After sitting out last season following his transfer from Oregon State, Luke Del Rio will compete for the starting position with Purdue graduate transfer Austin Appleby. As early enrollees, Feleipe Franks and Kyle Trask could factor into the competition as well.

CBS Sports noted Harris seemed uncomfortable at QB, as he struggled primarily with accuracy and decision-making. But in 171 rushing attempts over the last two seasons, he showed promise as a runner, totaling 570 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the ground.

Florida was also addressing a lack of wide receivers on the recruiting trail, and plugging in Harris as a hybrid-back/wide receiver will give the Gators depth and a potential playmaker.
