While Les Miles is setting the pace on the recruiting trail and Jim Harbaugh is going way over the top to land his commitments, Brian Kelly and his staff opted to just go big.

In an effort to gain favor with a highly sought wide receiver just ahead of National Signing Day, Notre Dame drove its 18-wheel equipment truck all the way from South Bend, Ind. to Savannah, Ga., ESPN reported

Demetris Robertson is considering Notre Dame, Georgia, Alabama, and Stanford among the schools he is most heavily considering. While 247 Sports forecasts Notre Dame as the frontrunner, this is the time of year to pull out all the stops to shore up uncommitted recruits.

247 Sports rated Robertson with an exceptional 0.9895 composite score, the 14th highest in the nation and the highest among wide receivers. Robertson shows great promise as a wide receiver due to his advanced technique and seemingly natural ability to run routes and catch the ball, though he also has the versatility to play running back.

Notre Dame's gesture is simple, as it physically conveys the enormity of playing college football at such an established institution. Robertson already used an official visit on Notre Dame, so Kelly's staff brought a piece of the program to him.

"I'm still smiling," Robertson told ESPN.com. "I couldn't believe it, I'm still shocked. I didn't get a chance to see what was in it, because I had to hurry off to school."

In a video of the truck he posted to his Twitter account, he indicated the 18-wheeler might be making a stop at his school, Savannah Christian Prep.
