The Scan Pyramids Mission hopes to tell a detailed story of how the Bent Pyramid of Egypt was constructed by analyzing cosmic particles stored inside.

According to The Associated Press, the team of international researchers will study radiographic particles called muons. These particles enter the Earth's atmosphere from space and can store themselves in hard surfaces.

For their studies, the Scan Pyramids Mission will use non-invasive technology like infrared thermography and 3D scanning to read the stories the pyramids' plates have to tell.

"Even if we find one square meter void somewhere, it will bring new questions and hypotheses and maybe it will help solve the definitive questions," Mehdi Tayoubi, president of the Heritage Innovation Preservation Institute, told the AP.

A non-profit focusing on preservation and innovation, the HIP Institute launched the Scan Pyramids Mission in October.

"For the construction of the pyramids, there is no single theory that is 100 percent proven or checked; They are all theories and hypotheses," Hany Helal, vice president of the Heritage Innovation Preservation Institute, told The AP. "What we are trying to do with the new technology, we would like to either confirm or change or upgrade or modify the hypotheses that we have on how the pyramids were constructed."
