Kirby Smart is finally able to rest now that the Alabama Crimson Tide accomplished their mission of winning of the National Championship.

But he did not get to stay with the team for very long after winning a fourth title in seven years, as he had to travel to Athens, Ga. for his overdue introduction as the head football coach of the Georgia Bulldogs, according to AL.com.

"I think it helps. I think it helps," he said in the locker room while the team celebrated. "Kids see it. They identify with it. Me being on TV and being in the national championship did way more for me tonight than say somebody who wasn't. It helps. It gives you a little bit of momentum. But at the end of the day, you have to build your own. You have to win yourself and you have to get good players and we have to build a good program over there."

Smart does not just have the one National Championship to use in his recruiting pitch. He has four, all of which he helped the Tide win since he came to Tuscaloosa alongside Nick Saban in 2007. Mixed in with those national titles are six SEC West division titles and a defense consistently rated among the best in the nation.

Smart did get to enjoy the celebration, as his flight to Athens was scheduled for 6 a.m., The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. Accompanying him was his wife and twin daughters and two Alabama coaches he is adding to staff at Georgia.

Smart was hired before Alabama's postseason run in the College Football Playoff, so he pulled double-duty, recruiting for Georgia while preparing Alabama's defense for Michigan State and then Clemson. He was formally introduced Wednesday morning.

"I'm going to bed; going to sleep," Smart said of his post-celebration plans. "I'm tired. Ready to fly out and get gone."
