With a glaring need for a stopgap at quarterback, Texas A&M announced the transfer of Oklahoma's former passer Trevor Knight.

Texas A&M watched as both its starting QBs from last year, Kyle Allen and Kyler Murray, leave College Station and Knight will eligible to play next season as a graduate transfer, USA Today reported. Murray transferred to Oklahoma, and will be eligible to play after sitting out a season.

"A dream come true. Those are the words that can be best used to describe the last four years of my life in Norman, Oklahoma," read part of a statement Knight posted to his Twitter account. "As I look back on my time here, and all of my experiences I have been through as a Sooner, I can truly say that I was exactly where God wanted me to be."

With their next big QB commit, Tate Martell, not scheduled to arrive until the following season, Texas A&M had a glaring need for a QB in the short term. Texas A&M turned to Jake Hubenak for its bowl game, so both he and Knight will likely be the main candidates to start for the Aggies next fall, ESPN noted.

Texas A&M head football coach Kevin Sumlin has proven himself adept at recruiting highly touted QBs, especially those with a dual-threat skill set. But since Johnny Manziel left for the NFL, Sumlin has seen three QBs transfer in two seasons. Fortunately for the coach, Martell is standing by his commitment.

"We are excited to welcome Trevor to the Aggie family," Sumlin said in a statement. "We look forward to him joining our team in January and know he will be a great representative of Texas A&M."
