As the first Briton aboard the International Space Station, Tim Peake has gotten his fair share of attention, especially from the United Kingdom.

On Monday, he got around to responding to his most significant well wish off all. In a video posted by the European Space Agency, Peake thanked Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth for her message of encouragement.

Peake said it was "incredible to look at the British Isles for the first time from space" and closed by saying, "I'm not sure this has ever been said in space before, so I'll be the first. God save the Queen."

The British Monarchy last month posted an official statement from Buckingham Palace signed by the Queen sending Peake to the ISS "with the thoughts and prayers of the whole country."

Peake made headlines not only as the Briton to join the ISS, but for what he plans to do once he gets there. Before launch, he said he hopes to see "Star Wars: the Force Awakens" with his fellow crewmembers, and also plans to run in the London Marathon in April while tethered to a treadmill and a monitor displaying the course in front of him.

Peake has also traded pleasantries with Elton John, and accidently called a random person on Earth.
