After losing the starting quarterback position in his third season at Oklahoma, Trevor Knight will transfer to another school.

According to SoonerScoop.com, Oklahoma head football coach Bob Stoops granted Knight a full release from his scholarship. On track to graduate this semester, Knight will be eligible to play for another school next season.

ESPN.com learned Oklahoma will not block Knight from transferring to any school, including Big 12 opponents.

Citing unnamed sources, SoonerScoop.com reported Knight is already considering Kansas State as a potential destination, and that Georgia, Oregon, and Southern Methodist have reached out to the QB as well. Knight is also expected to hold off on making a decision to see how various programs do on the recruiting trail. He will also be focusing on preparing for the Sooners' game against Clemson.

Knight threw for 2,300 yards and ran for 339 in 2014, scoring 19 total touchdowns, a season capped by a Sugar Bowl upset over Alabama. But this season, Knight lost the starting QB competition against Baker Mayfield, who wound up leading the Sooners to an 11-1 season and a College Football Playoff berth.

Knight's most substantial playing time came against TCU when he relieved a concussed Mayfield. Knight played the whole second half and completed just five passed in 16 attempts with an interception. Oklahoma held on for a 30-29 win.

Regardless, Knight's experience starting at a major Power 5 program and his eligibility to play right away will make him an attractive transfer addition for many programs.
