In a season in which their conference had as many as four teams nationally ranked, the UCF Knights had a season to forget.

After finishing 0-12, UCF was in need of drastic change, so the school brought in one of the most successful offensive coordinators in college football. UCF athletic officials are expected to introduce Scott Frost as the next UCF head football coach at a press conference on Wednesday, according to The Associated Press.

"Scott is a winner and innovator who has directed one of college football's most exciting offenses at the University of Oregon," UCF Athletic Director Danny White said in a statement. "His attitude and experience are exactly what we need to ensure the Knights compete, and win, at the highest levels. I couldn't be more excited to bring Scott and his fiancé, Ashley, to the UCF family."

Frost started at Oregon as a wide receiver coach under Chip Kelly and was promoted to offensive coordinator and a quarterback coach in 2012 when Oregon replaced Kelly with Mark Helfrich. Over that latter span, the Ducks have consistently had one of the most potent offenses in the nation, which operated with Marcus Mariota.

But after Mariota's departure, Frost led Oregon's offense with Vernon Adams, a graduate transfer from an FCS program.

Despite the dismal winless season, UCF fans may have reason to be excited given how Tom Herman has guided Houston to the AAC Championship game in his first season after leaving Ohio State. UCF's turnaround may not be quite so swift, but the AAC is taking noticeable steps toward relevance, due in small part to coaching hires like Herman.

"UCF is an excellent opportunity for me because our student-athletes can succeed immediately, both competitively and academically," Frost said in the statement. "We've had great recent success - I vividly remember watching the Fiesta Bowl victory. With our student-athletes, football staff, facilities, fans and supporters, I know we will bring exciting and winning football back to Orlando."
