Baker Mayfield will be able to practice for the Oklahoma Sooners this week after passing a concussion test, putting him on track to play against Oklahoma State on Saturday.

Mayfield suffered the concussion during the second quarter of Oklahoma's game against TCU, but he stayed in the game until the end of the half. During the half, with the Sooners up 32-7, Mayfield admitted to team doctors he had a headache and was held out for the rest of the game, ESPN reported.

Oklahoma head football coach Bob Stoops confirmed Monday at his weekly press conference that Mayfield was cleared to practice, but not to take any contact. Though Mayfield's practice routine does not involve contact, he will have to get through a full week without a setback, ESPN noted.

TCU's defense stifled Mayfield to nine completions in 20 attempts, but could not get Oklahoma's starting QB to turn the ball over. After coming in for the second half, Trevor Knight managed just five completions in 16 pass attempts and threw one interception.

While Knight struggled to keep drives alive, TCU came back to outscore Oklahoma 22-7 in the second half.

Oklahoma can win the Big 12 Championship on Saturday by beating Oklahoma State, as long as the conference does not name Baylor a co-champion in the event they beat TCU. The Sooners are also in a position to make the College Football Playoff, as the committee had them ranked seventh overall heading into their game against TCU.
