The Texas A&M Aggies secured a 13th-hour commitment from a former Top-100 basketball player who will be eligible to play this season, only after waiting a month.

After initially committing to Alabama, Kobie Eubanks did not achieve a qualifying test score ahead of the beginning of the academic year. He got his qualifying score in Sept., making him eligible to play starting in the second semester and is now committed to join Texas A&M, ESPN reported.

Eubanks reportedly also considered Baylor and Georgetown before deciding to remain in the SEC and settling on Texas A&M. Eubanks is listed as a shooting guard, but at six-foot-five and 185 pounds, his size allows him to play on the wing.

Texas A&M was left off the Associated Press' preseason Top 25, but the team may be considered a dark horse to compete for the SEC. The Aggies finished 11-7 in conference play last year and 22-12 overall, which was good for a third-place tie.

The Aggies will benefit from returning three seniors in their backcourt - Danuel House, Alex Caruso and Jalen Jones - and welcoming four incoming freshmen ranked in ESPN's Top 75. A highly talented shooter and all-around scorer, Eubanks will add depth to an already deep backcourt.

The first game Eubanks is eligible to play in this season will be a home game on Saturday, Dec. 19 against Baylor.

"I want to be a part of something special," Eubanks told ESPN. "I visited there and really loved the players and the staff. I think they have something special going on over there."
