About a week after being reinstated for unspecified disciplinary reasons, Missouri quarterback Maty Mauk was suspended again, but for the rest of the season due to an alleged confrontation at a local bar.

Citing unnamed sources, The St. Louis Post-Dispatch learned Mauk got into a verbal altercation with someone else outside The Field House, a bar in downtown Columbia.

When news of the confrontation reached the University of Missouri's (UM) athletic department, head football coach Gary Pinkel decided to suspend the QB for the remainder of the season.

After getting off to a 3-1 start, Mauk was suspended indefinitely for an undisclosed violation of team rules, but was reinstated on Sunday, Oct. 25 after missing four games. Mauk then reportedly apologized to his teammates on Wednesday.

"He just apologized, and said he'd get his act together and be the leader that he's supposed to be and we all know he can be," Tigers wide receiver J'Mon Moore told The Post-Dispatch.

Hours later, Mauk was involved in the confrontation and four days later Pinkel suspended him for the rest of the season.

"There was an altercation, whether it be physical or verbal, and Maty Mauk was asked to leave," an unnamed employee at The Field House told The Kansas City Star.

Pinkel has not disclosed the reasons for either of Mauk's suspension, and indicated doing so would go against his own policies.

"I've been a head football coach for 25 years. I've handled discipline problems the exact  same way I've been doing for 25 years, it's very consistent," Pinkel told reporters Monday, according to the Tigers' official website. "What we did here is exactly like I've always done it. That's what we do, that's what we believe. We don't overlook things, we don't cover things up. We do what's right. A lot of other places would find ways to get the problem solved without doing what we do, but we don't do that at Missouri.  I've never done that, I never will."
