Avery Johnson secured his second Top 100 prospect in the class of 2016 before even coaching a basketball game for the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Braxton Key confirmed to ESPN his commitment to Alabama Wednesday. The six-foot-eight small forward was also reportedly considering offers from Kansas, Texas, and Vanderbilt.

Going into his first season as Alabama's head men's basketball coach, Johnson already secured a commitment from Terrance Ferguson, a shooting guard from Dallas ranked 10th overall on the 2016 ESPN 100. Key ranks 66th on the list, but is the second overall prospect in Tennessee.

"I have a great relationship with [Johnson]," Key told ESPN. "He was a player and coach in the NBA and knows what it takes to get there. I am also very comfortable with assistant coach Bob Simon, who has been recruiting me since I was in ninth grade when he was at Providence."

247 Sports rated Key 0.9717 composite score, which put him among the top 15 small forwards in his class.

In addition to Key and Ferguson, Johnson will add a junior college transfer named Ar'Mond Davis. Alabama is also on the consideration list for Marques Bolden, a five-star center from Dallas. Key indicated Johnson's recruiting activity contributed to his decision to commit to Alabama.

"I wanted to do something different," Key told ESPN. "Be a part of something new and special at Alabama with Terrance Ferguson, and now we are going to work on recruiting Marques Bolden and we will be set."
