The university's board of trustees has released a statement Thursday regarding the firing of its 74-day-old president.

Once again, like previous statements the new statement by the board of trustees chairman Duane Wilson fails to mention the reason behind the sudden decision.

Geoffrey Orsak, University of Tulsa president was fired from his position Wednesday within three months of assuming the office.

The university initially released a statement Tuesday saying that Osrak would be taking a leave to attend his ailing father in Dallas, but the very next day, the university made an official announcement on his firing, reports Tulsa World.

No explanations were given by the university which led to a wide range of speculations among the public and the media.

Thursday's statement says that Vice President Kevan Buck will be handling administrative duties while the search for new president proceeds and does not have any substantial information on the firing.

Though Wilson does acknowledge the 'intense interest' and questions among the 'members of the TU family and the general public,' he says as per the university policy he cannot 'discuss the specific circumstances surrounding the decision.'

Ousted president has issued a statement from Dallas, where he is reportedly attending his father who has been diagnosed with brain tumor. He too, did not give out any information on the firing, but expressed his disappointment on being not able to continue in his position, for which he had to uproot from Dallas and make 'significant professional and personal sacrifices.'

"I am very disappointed given the lengthy due diligence process for the position that within such a short period of time the board has decided to go in a different direction," Orsak said in the statement acquired by Tulsa World.

Chairman Wilson has referred to the 'unfortunate timing' of the board's decision and has expressed its sympathies toward Orsak family facing medical crisis.

Orsak who's a Rice University alumnus, took office as TU's 18th president July 1.
