For the third year in a row, Princeton University topped U.S. News and World Report's National Universities Rankings.

One of the most highly cited college rankings in the U.S., the Ivy League once again dominated the U.S. News list, occupying half of the top 10 and eight spots within the top 15. Other schools that filled out the ranking were elite non-Ivies like Stanford, Duke, MIT and CalTech.

1.     Princeton

Acceptance rate: 7.4 percent

Enrolled: 43,450

2.     Harvard University

Location: Cambridge, Mass.

Acceptance rate: 6 percent

Enrolled: 6,694

3.     Yale University

Location: New Haven, Conn.

Acceptance rate: 6.3 percent

Enrolled: 5,477

4.     Columbia University

Location: New York, N.Y.

Acceptance rate: 7 percent

Enrolled: 6,170

4.     Stanford University

Location: Stanford, Calif.

Acceptance rate: 5.1 percent

Enrolled: 7,019

4.     University of Chicago

Location: Chicago, Ill.

Acceptance rate: 8.8 percent

Enrolled: 5,681

7.     Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)

Location: Cambridge, Mass.

Acceptance rate: 7.9 percent

Enrolled: 4,512

8.     Duke University

Location: Durham, N.C.

Acceptance rate: 11.4 percent

Enrolled: 6,626

9.     University of Pennsylvania

Location: Philadelphia, Penn.

Acceptance rate: 10.4 percent

Acceptance rate: 8.8 percent
