Vernon Adams' high profile transfer from Eastern Washington to Oregon is being put on hold while the quarterback completes his degree requirements over the summer session.

Adams announced his transfer back in Feb., but has not been able to participate in Oregon's football activities until he graduated. The Oregonian reported Thursday that Adams did not actually finish his degree by the end of Eastern Washington University's (EWU) spring semester.

Adams is coming into a starting quarterback competition with Jeff Lockie, who backed up Marcus Mariota, an all-time Oregon great, for the past two seasons. Lockie also played well in the Ducks' spring game.

However, Adams lit up the Division I-AA Big Sky conference for three years at EWU and is looking to take advantage of the NCAA's graduate transfer rule.

The Oregonian learned Adams' summer session at EWU is scheduled to run through Aug. 14, whereas Oregon's training camp starts on Aug. 10. Adams is reportedly enrolled already in graduate classes for the fall semester and the University of Oregon and will immediately make his way to Eugene for camp upon completing his undergraduate degree.

While Adams' transfer has yet to become 100 percent official, he apparently knew he had to take one final course before it would be so. He told the Oregonian in mid-June he only had one math course to pass, which he was not worrying over.

Fox Sports' Bruce Feldman reported Thursday that Adams expects to finish the math course within the next two weeks. It is not clear if he will be allowed to take part in Oregon's team activities before EWU's summer session officially ends.

Oregon's first regular season game is Sept. 5 at Autzen Stadium and the Ducks will play EWU.
