If there is another fiasco court-storming event like the Kansas - Kansas State game last year, the Big 12 will be fully equipped to respond.

According to the Associated Press, the Big 12 passed a measure Wednesday widening possible sanctions the conference can levy against member schools in court-storming incidents. The possible punishments widely range from fines all the way to loss of future home games.

"I don't know that there's anything off the table in dealing with those issues," Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby told reporters at the conference's spring meetings. "I think I've been given broad prerogatives to deal with those issues."

Last Feb., when Kansas lost to in-state rival Kansas State, the home supporters stormed the court in a particularly raucous manner. Kansas head coach Bill Self was seen pinned against the press table as the fans rapidly filled the court. A Kansas State student intentionally ran into Kansas forward Jamari Traylor as he was trying to get off the court.

Bowlsby delivered Kansas State University a public reprimand, but stated better policy was necessary for preventing future incidents like this. Those investigating the incident to dole out individual punishments used extensive fan-captured videos, telecast footage and witness testimony.

"We are certainly most interested in the safety of our participants and would include home team, visiting team, officials, table crew and the like," he said. "And we have pretty good video evidence of all our big events so we can review them."
