STEM may be making a comeback in higher education and the workforce, but the world will always need creative types and therefore the arts will always have a place on college campuses.

For their list, the website compiled factors including job growth, average earnings of current degree holders and the amount of schools that offer the degree program.

Practical use: While this degree is sometimes associated with a student's indecisiveness, it is actually a multifaceted educational experience, taking pieces from several different fields of study.

2.     Graphic Design

Average pay: $97,000

Practical use: The job growth is not spectacular in this field, but it is trending in the right direction and it is consistently among the highest paying arts jobs out there.

3.     Visual and Performing Arts

Average pay: $73,000

Practical use: Unlike theatre, this field is not relegated to one art form and has disciplines in music, dance, art and more.

4.     Game and Interactive Media Design

Average pay: $72,000

Practical use: Game design is growing in popularity as more and more indie studios are churning out popular video games for desktops computers and mobile devices as well as consoles.

5.     Fine and Studio Arts

Average pay: $73,000

Practical use: Ranking highly in job opportunity and course availability, sculpting, painting and illustrating seem to be making a comeback.
