The University of Florida (UF) was made aware of an arrest of a redshirt freshman football player on charges of suspicion of armed robbery.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, the Gainesville Police arrested J.C. Jackson Saturday night and are holding him at Alachua County Jail on $150,000 bond. Police said Jackson and two other people, armed with guns, entered someone else's apartment and robbed hundreds of dollars' worth of cash, marijuana and other items.

Jackson apparently gained entry to the apartment by calling the person who lived there and asked to smoke marijuana. After entering with his two accomplices, Jackson left while they took the marijuana and two video game consoles.

After being identified by the victim, Jackson turned himself in.

"We are aware of the news involving JC Jackson and he is currently dealing with a serious issue," UF head football coach Jim McElwain said in a statement released. "We don't condone any of his actions and it is not something that reflects on the expectations we have in the program. It is being handled accordingly due to the severity of his actions."

Jackson redshirted last season because of a shoulder injury and was held out of contact drills during this season's spring drills. However, he reportedly was playing with the Gators' first-team defense during the Spring Game.

Jackson was in a car this past Dec. alongside teammates Jalen Tarbor and Treon Harris that was pulled over for speeding, the Gainesville Sun reported. The UF police officers smelled marijuana in the car and found two small bags. The car did not belong to any of the players and the marijuana was not on any of their persons, thus no charges were filed.
