The family of Eloi Vazquez is offering $50,000 for information leading to the University of California (UC) - Berkeley soccer player's return.

According to NBC Los Angeles, Vazquez went missing early Saturday morning after leaving a party at a fraternity house near the University of South California's L.A. campus. He left the party with his cell phone and apparently made a call about 45 minutes afterward.

Vazquez, 19, called his friend, Northern California resident Aurora Cardena, around 2:18 a.m. and said he was lost. When he left the party, NBC Los Angeles learned, attendees tried to get him to stay, but he was set on "going to the beach." Vazquez's phone died and he left the party without his ID or wallet.

"He pretty much said, 'I need you to come over here, I need help.' I asked him 'Where are you?' and he told me that he was in LA and that he didn't know where he was at and that he was lost," Cardenas told NBC. "The second time he called it just clicked. I didn't know if his phone died, or if he hung up."

A six-foot, 175-pound Hispanic male with black hair and brown eyes, Vazquez was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, gray pants and white tennis shoes.

"Eloi is a wonderful young man who has excelled both academically and athletically here at Cal. Our entire Cal Athletics family is very concerned for Eloi's safety and our first priority is to help in any way we can to locate him," the UC athletic department said in a statement. "We are working with authorities in Los Angeles as well as those here on campus and ask that anyone with information regarding Eloi's disappearance please contact LAPD's Southwest Area Watch Commander at 213-486-8582 or 877-LAPD-24-7.

"We ask that everyone keep Eloi and his family in their thoughts and pray for his safe return."
