You can call them the "way too early" 2015 Heisman Trophy odds, but Ohio State's junior running back Ezekiel Elliot will top the list regardless.

Whoever is playing quarterback for the Buckeyes in the 2015-2016 season, Elliott could well be their most important offensive player. The second half of his sophomore season was impressive enough, but he really turned it on for Ohio State's final three games: the Big Ten title game, the Sugar Bowl and the National Championship.

Coincidentally, those were quarterback Cardale Jones' first three college football starts and Elliot ran for 220, 230 and 246 yards in those contests, respectively, with eight total touchdowns. Though it is a small sample size, odds makers may believe they got a glimpse at what the Ohio State offense might look like if Jones becomes the starter.

Per ESPN's David Hale, put into a nice-and-neat table by Bleacher Report, Elliot led the way in Heisman odds at 6/1, according to Bovada. Speaking of Jones and that Ohio State QB battle, the three passers found themselves bunched together at 10th, 11th and 12th.

Jones' odds were best at 14/1, followed by J.T. Barrett at 16/1 and Braxton Miller at 18/1. The QBs with the highest odds were Mississippi State's Dak Prescott at 7/1, TCU's Trevone Boykin at 15/2 and USC's Cody Kessler at 12/1.

The top 10 was mostly occupied by running backs, such as LSU's Leonard Fournette at 7/1, Georgia's Nick Chubb and UCLA's Paul Perkins at 12/1 and Alabama's Derrick Henry and Oklahoma's Samaje Pernie at 14/1.

The only defensive player on the list was Arizona linebacker Scooby Wright at 66/1. The only wide receiver on the list was Ole Miss' Laquon Treadwell with the same odds.
