Losing streaks are not common on Mike Krzyzewski's team, so he is probably going to get his 1,000th win on someone else's court.

The win over Pitt Monday night was Coach K's 999th win for his career, and 926 have come coaching the Blue Devils at Duke University. Of any men's basketball coach in Division I, past or present, Krzyzewski will be the first to reach 1,000 wins.

His best shot at winning that massive milestone game should be Sunday against St. Johns because Duke will go on to play eighth-ranked Notre Dame and second-ranked before returning to Durham to play Georgia Tech.

So, thanks to extensive coverage from ESPN and others, we can look back at how Coach K got to where he is.

Krzyzewski was an assistant coach on Bob Knight's staff during the 1974-1975 team before landing the head coaching job at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, his alma mater. On March 18, 1980, Duke University hired Krzyzewski and their men's basketball program would forever be changed.

4: Divison I National Championships Krzyzewski has won, all with Duke. He is second all-time, in a tie with Adolph Rupp, trailing only John Wooden.

11: Final Four appearances, which is tied for second with Dean Smith, also trailing Wooden.

13: ACC titles.

3: Naismith Coach of Year Awards.

4: Gold medals in the last four major international basketball tournaments: 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Olympics and the 2010 Turkey and 2014 Spain FIBA World Championships.

1: Jim Boeheim is the only active Division I men's basketball coach with at least 900 wins (961). The next active coach on the wins list is Bob Huggins with 753.

28: Years of Krzyzewskiville, where the "Cameron Crazies" camp out before home games and are sometimes treated to pizza from Coach K himself and "open forum team meetings."

46: Years since Krzyzewski married his wife Carol on the day of his graduation from West Point. They now have three daughters and eight grandchildren.
