The search for Shane Montgomery is going on a month and authorities have made a significant discovery since focusing their search on the Schuylkill River.

According to WPVI Philadelphia, police found a set of keys in the river that were confirmed to belong to the West Chester University (WCU) student. The discovery came shortly after police found video evidence placing Montgomery in a parking lot near the river before vanishing.

Montgomery, 21, went missing early in the morning on Thanksgiving after leaving a local pub. Surveillance footage also shows him crossing a bridge to get to the parking lot.

"They discovered a set of keys in the water," Kevin Verbrugghe, Shane's uncle, told WPVI. "They brought them to the surface and brought them to us. I identified them as Shane's, positively identified as his.

"It's just a piece to the puzzle. The puzzle is definitely not done."

Montgomery is five-foot-11, weighs about 140 pounds, has green eyes, brown hair and was last seen wearing a grey top and jeans. Anyone seeking more information on the search and anyone wishing to prodive relevant information can visit HelpFindShaneMontgomery.com. The family is offering $65,000 in exchange for a tip that leads to his finding.

Also aiding the search is the FBI, family members and several volunteers, which has included a group of divers called the Garden State Underwater Recovery unit.

"It doesn't necessarily bring us any closer to finding him," Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey told WPVI. "But hopefully we will find him in order to bring some closure to the family."

Authorities are going on the theory that Montgomery wound up in the river somehow, but they have not been able to say how.
