The University of Texas (UT) Longhorns secured one of the best high school outside linebackers in the recruiting class of 2015.

According to ESPN, Malik Jefferson verbally committed to UT Friday morning in his high school auditorium with hundreds looking on. The ESPN 300 linebacker from Poteet High School announced his decision just after his four-star teammate DeAndre McNeal also verbally committed to UT.

ESPN rated Jefferson a four-star recruit and the third-best outside linebacker overall, whereas Yahoo Sports and 247 Sports ranks him at the top of the position with a five-star distinction. Either way, the Butkus Award winner is one of the most coveted recruits of the class of 2015.

McNeal, a four-star prospect without one true position, is the less heralded recruit, but his versatility should give the Longhorns' offense some depth. McNeal plays tight end as well as tail- and H-back, though he may not have the size to be a receiver in college, ESPN reported. He has also lined up at quarterback, outside and inside linebacker, safety and cornerback.

Jefferson said his decision came down to "trust, off the bat."

"I want to become one of the best and I think Coach Strong can take me there," he said at his announcement. "He's real, 24/7. You can't deny that."

Charlie Strong has proven that he will not alter his strict approach to coaching and managing his team. However, with Jefferson and McNeal as proof, it has also helped him recruit in his first full offseason as the Longhorns' coach.

Jefferson was the 22nd high school player to commit to UT, nine of who are in ESPN's top 300. Both Jefferson and McNeal were reportedly choosing between a top three of UT, UCLA and Texas A&M.
