As police and family members continue to search for Kosta Karageorge, a senior at Ohio State University (OSU), the football team has publicly offered their support to the effort.

According to ESPN, Buckeyes head football coach Urban Meyer released a statement Friday afternoon and a team spokesman confirmed that the defensive tackle missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday.

"Our thoughts continue to be with the family of Kosta Karageorge and we pray that he is safe and that he is found soon," Meyer said. "He is a young man who joined the football team in August and was a hard worker on the field and pleasant off the field. He has been an important player in practice for us, right up until the time he was reported missing. If anyone knows anything about his whereabouts, please help his family and contact the authorities."

Anyone with information that could lead to Kosta Karageorge is encouraged to call 614-747-1729.

He is six-foot-five and weighs 285 pounds. He was last seen about 2 a.m. Wednesday morning, the Columbus Dispatch reported. Karageorge's sister Sophia told the newspaper her brother was wearing black boots, black sweatpants over his jeans, a black hooded sweatshirt and a black beanie.

She also said his roommates were the last to see him, as he left their apartment to go for a walk. Sophia and other family members are worried that the walk-on football player and former wrestler is suffering from the after effects of a previous concussion.

"He had some extenuating circumstances that night that lead us to believe he was upset," Sophia told the Dispatch. "He did not take his motorcycle, and he does not have his car on campus.

"So he was either picked up, went on foot or took public transportation. He does not have his wallet or any identification on him that we know of because his girlfriend has his wallet."
