After sitting out 10 games for the USC Trojans, the school announced Josh Shaw will be reinstated and eligible to play in their remaining two games.

According to ESPN, USC announced on Tuesday the reinstatement of the Trojans' senior cornerback, who was suspended pending the results of a police investigation. Shaw will not face criminal charges for the argument with his girlfriend that resulted in a neighbor calling 911.

That argument is at the center of why Shaw sprained both ankles and wound up on indefinite suspension from the football team. In Aug., he said he leapt from a balcony to save his drowning nephew, but later revealed the whole story to be false.

His story became headline news, but was soon after revealed to be lie, resulting in USC barring Shaw from the football team while the police conducted their investigation. USC athletic director Pat Haden said in a statement that Shaw will be able to play at head football coach Steve Sarkisian's discretion.

"For several months, local authorities have been investigating the August 23 incident involving Josh Shaw. They have now concluded that investigation and determined that no action will be taken against him," Haden said. "USC also conducted its own internal investigation of Josh, evaluating both athletic department code of conduct and potential NCAA compliance issues. Based on these investigations and their conclusions, and the 10-game suspension Josh has served for code of conduct violations."

Last week, Shaw fully disclosed his side of the story in an exclusive interview with Bill Plaschke, of the Los Angeles Times. In it, Shaw said he only wanted to come clean with the public since he had spun such an elaborate lie, which required certain family members to take part. He told the Times that he "hit bottom [and] learned."

"I've welcomed Josh Shaw back to the team," Sarkisian said in the statement. "I'm now in the process of evaluating how Josh can contribute to the team's success."

USC plays UCLA on the road Saturday, Nov. 22 and Notre Dame at home the following week, then whatever bowl game they get into.
