Penn State University is taking the initiative to raise awareness about campus sexual assault, school officials announced.

The school's University Police will offer two online programs that discuss the laws and resources for faculty, staff and students surrounding sexual assault and harassment on campus and intimate partner violence.

"These are all huge issues that impact college campuses across the U.S., and we really see how they affect the Penn State community as well," Sgt. Frances Pollack, Crime Prevention and Community Education Officer with University Police, said in a statement. "We really want to let people know what's available to them and what Penn State is trying to do to combat these issues. Both of the programs are via Adobe Connect, so faculty, staff and students from every campus can tune in."

The first program, which will be held on Nov. 24 from 1 to 2 p.m., will cover "Sexual Harassment and Assault on Campus." It will outline laws and resources available in regard to sexual harassment and sexual assault, including laws in Pennsylvania, Penn State policies, bystander intervention and the national 'It's on Us' campaign, and resources available to victims across Penn State's campuses.

The second program will focus on "Ripples of Intimate Partner Violence" from 2 to 3 p.m. on Nov. 25. The program will discuss partner violence, stalking and the impact of those crimes, resources available on Penn State campuses and information on how to help a friend.

Penn State community members can view the program "Sexual Harassment and Assault on Campus" here and "Ripples of Intimate Partner Violence" here.
