Leave it to the Southeastern Conference (SEC) to be the first league in college football history to place four teams in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll.

Now in the ninth week of the rankings, all four teams are from the SEC's Western Division. As if the selection committee for the inaugural College Football Playoff (CFP) was not already worrying about picking too many SEC teams.

With Florida State (2) remaining undefeated, the ACC stands a solid chance of being represented in the playoff, as the Seminoles have no currently ranked opponents left on their schedule. Also still in the hunt with one loss are Oregon (6), Notre Dame (7), Michigan State (8) and TCU (10).

There were not too many big leaps in the rankings this week, but Alabama can claim one of the most significant after they hosted and decimated Texas A&M 59-0. The loss was the third in a row for the Aggies, who were ranked 21st last week with 264 points. This week, they have been dropped from the top 25 and cling to one solitary point.

Within the top 25, the biggest drop belongs to Baylor (12), who lost to West Virginia. The Bears are averaging a nation-best 49 points per game with one of the game's best passers in Bryce Petty, yet they were held down to just 27 points.

A pre-season favorite to make the playoff, Oklahoma's (17) chances are now looking to be all but dashed. They have lost twice this season and both losses have come against the only two ranked opponents on their schedule. If the stronger teams give the Sooners trouble, then they are in trouble when they host Baylor in a couple of weeks.

With Oregon now stringing a couple wins together, the Pac-12 is starting to look clearer, as they are the highest ranked one-loss team in the conference.

The CFP could be decided on the last day of the season, as all four SEC West pair off in their respective rivalry games on Saturday, Nov. 29. While Alabama will play Auburn (5) in the Iron Bowl, Ole Miss (3) and Mississippi State (1) will play for the Egg Bowl.
