In the Wild West that is the Pac-12, every team seemingly has a shot at playing for the conference title, even the Utah Utes (20) and Oregon State Beavers.

Oregon State and Utah are both 1-1 in their conference and sit in the middle of the North and South divisions, respectively. The Beavers trail Oregon and Stanford, (2-1 each) while Utah is chasing USC (3-1), Arizona and Arizona State (both 2-1).

Utah is coming off an upset win over UCLA, ranked eighth at the time, and still have all the aforementioned Pac-12 leaders remaining on their schedule. The Utes have reached 4-1 thanks to balanced offensive attack that has averaged 217 yards in the air, 202 on the ground and about 40 points per game.

Also at 4-1, Oregon State lost to USC, the one ranked opponent the Beavers have faced thus far. However, Oregon State has a much easier scheduled going forward, meeting Stanford next weekend and then Oregon to close out their schedule.

Utah head football coach Kyle Whittingham has his team playing confident after his defense dominated UCLA's offensive line while his offense ran the ball relentlessly.

"When you rush for 242 yards against the talent that UCLA has in the front seven, you've done some good work," he told reporters ahead of Friday night's contest, according to ESPN. "I've never understood what the word 'signature win' is, but this is a big win for us on the road. It says what our capabilities are if we play a complete game and play smart and play a full 60 minutes."

Oregon State will need to protect Sean Mannion, their big fourth-year quarterback. Mannion can make big plays happen with the deep ball, but his lack of mobility means Oregon State's O-line will need to step up.
